The Year of the Eye Mask

Based on the frequency of eye mask sales at Faire Frou Frou, we are declaring 2010-2011 The Year of the Eye Mask!  Not only that, but we have seen an abundance of editorials featuring this cheeky little accessory.  The must-have mask at our shop is a tie between the velvet Masquerade Mask and the Lace Blindfold both by Maison Close.  Though the lace blindfold is technically not a mask, it pretty much serves the same purpose so we're lumping it in the same category.  They are both the perfect item to round out a sexy little ensemble.  It's fun to see an item hit such a high level of popularity, and we enjoy seeing our customers explore such fun options.

Whenever we discover new work by photographer Ellen von Unwerth, it's pretty much required posting on this blog. These pictures from the July 2010 issue of Vogue Italy have the 'wow factor' we're accustomed to with von Unwerth's images and certainly some pretty Italian intimates. Naturally we see a lot of Dolce & Gabbana lingerie here, and also spotted a pair of undies by UK favorite What Katie Did. Of course the teased hair, the big pouty lips and the dramatic 60's-inspired eyeliner are the perfect way to set the stage for these sexy photographs. Makes us wish we could pull off this look in real life...we'd certainly get a lot of cat calls!

Hollywood Glamour

When you combine old Hollywood glamour with dark sensuality, you get this amazing photo shoot by the talented Paolo Roversi. Bustiers, fishnet stockings and bras come together in this Vogue Italy editorial to create a dramatic effect. These pictures remind us of how lighting can really create that 1940s film starlet look, don't you agree? Probably our favorite picture is of the model in the beaded gown...perhaps because of her hair! It seems more and more we are enjoying pictures because of the hairstyles! Lingerie Noir

In this 'Style Noir' shoot by Paolo Roversi, Lara Stone models several lingerie looks for Vogue Italy. This is essentially a look you can create by simply pairing stockings with a garter &/or garter brief, and then style your hair and make-up accordingly!
The lingerie in this shoot is an assortment of Dolce & Gabbana, La Perla, Agent Provocateur (hosiery) and What Katie Did (one of our faves that we plan on getting more stock!).

Lingerie Inspiration

We came across a beautiful image of Natalia Vodianova on This is Glamorous, and decided to share it with you (along with a couple others). Each photo hints at luxury lingerie, whether through those cute stockings (love that photo) or the silk & lace dresses reminiscent of a chemise.

Remember her from America's Next Top Model? As Tyra would say, she is definitely 'fierce'...she looks incredible!

We've all heard the buzz about the highly anticipated July 2008 "Black Issue" of VOGUE Italy.
Naturally we wanted to see the beautiful photography by Steven Meisel, get a peek at our favorite models Liya Kebede and Chanel Iman, and of course scout out any designer lingerie for our readers!
There wasn't much lingerie overall, but enough to be able to post about it.
Unfortunately we didn't get any of the designer credits, so if you know who did what, please let us know!
