Lingerie & Photography: David Bellemere

yes, we had to censor the above image (from Elle Russia)...you can see the original here.

It's been a while since we've done a Lingerie & Photography post...and it's wonderful to have a little something that's inspired us enough to share with you!
Originally this post was meant to feature the images shown below (from Marie Claire Italy) because they are a bit more lingerie specific...but we just ended up being more drawn to the lighter, more airy images above (from Elle Russia).  In any event, if we had to use just one word to describe his work it would be sensual.
All of the photography is by David Bellemere (whom we could not find a proper biography for online), but we are curious, which style do you like best; the above images or the ones below?

Not only do we have the most amazing customers around, but apparently the most talented!  Through Faire Frou Frou we were pleased to make the acquaintance of Los Angeles photographer Tyler Kandel, who shot a series of images titled "On Pointe" that included lingerie from our boutique.  The images are gorgeous, the lingerie is spectacular and the fact that the photos are ballet-themed is the pièce de résistance.  Each image seems to be as much about the light in the room as it is about the dancer, which is pretty breathtaking.  Kandel studied photography at Art Center College of Design and was recently amongst the Top 25 contestants at the 2010 International Photography Awards.  His portfolio is a great example of his range of talent as a photographer, which we recommend that you see here

Now That's What We're Talking About

images copyright Jeffrey Graetcsch

Every now and then we discover photographs the just blow us away, and these images by Jeffrey Graetsch are no exception! Seriously, each picture is a favorite. The hair accessories, high waist panties, stockings, leather bodysuit, gorgeous model with the Bardot hair, you name it...everything works.
Do you have a favorite of the bunch?

Jonathan Leder; Swim & Lingerie Photos

those sparkle panties are too cute!

though not our favorite picture of the bunch, we love the lingerie set!

A little bit of web surfing led us to the photography of Jonathan Leder. In looking through his portfolio his images are raw, gritty and provocative. There are quite a few topless pictures that are wonderful as well, which you can see on his website. What's interesting is that you can tell by the styling & subject matter that this photographer must be in his thirties...or at least it seems evident to us. It's almost as though his capturing the vibe of his childhood years in his work.
Do you have a favorite? We love all of the swimwear pics!

Attached are just a few images from my recent photo shoot with Los Angeles-based photographer Marnie Goodfriend. We teamed up about a month ago for a whimsical shoot in the Hollywood Hills, and look how fun the images turned out! You get a great idea of Marnie's flair with color, light and overall styling. I felt like I was doing a shoot for a Kate Spade catalogue (speaking of the designer those electric blue silk heels are Kate Spade). Marnie supplied many of the props, clothes and accessories and really provided great direction through her gentle and insightful approach to her work.
For anyone in the Los Angeles area looking for a talented photographer who truly loves her trade, you can contact Marnie here.
Also, I highly recommend that you take a look at her website and blog to see more from her portfolio. Marnie really does a great job capturing touching moments, subtle gestures and life's small pleasures.

Heidilicious!

Heidi Klum is the face of photographer Rankin's newly published book titled Rankin's Heidilicious. The two have worked together over the past several years and the multitude of his photographs of Heidi are an expression of what she really is like. From the 20 or so pictures we've seen in the book, there are a lot of shots of Heidi topless, or covered in chocolate. We were hoping for more pin-up or lingerie...
We have a feeling that our favorite image is the one at the top of this post!

Lingerie & Photography; Jane McLeish Kelsey

images & copyright via here

These images by Jane Mcleish Kelsey kind of have a polaroid effect; the grainy soft-focus and slight over-exposure. Of course we love anything that reminds us of a Polaroid (see our last post), and we're sure you will enjoy them too. The styling in each picture was also done incredibly well, such as the scarves and glasses that add interesting details.

Marie Antoinette's Intimates

images courtesy of Giuliano Bekor

Pretty much when any photo has a Marie Antoinette theme, it's a hit, especially when lingerie is involved! We love these coquettish pictures by Giuliano Bekor from his shoot that is aptly titled "Marie Antoinette". Feathers, ribbons, stockings and cotton candy hair combine for a fun effect, especially with those stand-out red shoes! And we can't ignore the beautiful corsets and bustiers that made these pieces so incredible.
This shoot makes us wonder; what was Marie Antoinette really wearing under those elaborate dresses...ribbon-tie panties? Red suede boots? Does anyone know for sure?

Maybe This is All We Need...

Chris Floyd mens shirt

image by Chris Floyd, copyright 2009

Perhaps we should just forget all of the silky underthings to create a sexy look and go with a tried-and-true classic; the men's dress shirt. There certainly is something appealing about the look...that's why we're bringing in a lovely women's British label this Fall to offer a similar style to our customers (we'll let you know when we get this mystery label!).
We're beginning to wonder what we love more in this photo; the cozy men's shirt, the model with her cute haircut, or that gorgeous chinoiserie wallpaper. Actually, this image just goes to show that casual/loungewear does not have to be frumpy!

(P.S. - Silky underthings are still a must...we were only playing with you!) xox

all images via Dirk Messner

We discovered a treasure trove of lingerie images, thanks to professional photographer Dirk Messner (discovered via Fashion Pulse, thank you!). He has quite an eye for shooting lingerie in a sophisticated, high-class fashion, and has even done some beautiful editorial work for Victoria's Secret. If we had their budget, we would have him photograph for our store too!
